Kèr Ayàmfoù (/ˈajəm/ /ˈfoʊ/ [array] [evident]) is a subtropical Town located in Coldmere Dutchy, Fidhi̊si Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Kèr Ayàmfoù is derived from the Tauric language, as Kèr Ayàmfoù was founded by Setona Davies, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Kèr Ayàmfoù has a yearly average temperature of 22°C (71°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 25°C (77°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 20°C (68°F). Kèr Ayàmfoù receives an average of 136 cm/y (53 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Overview

Kèr Ayàmfoù was founded durring the late 14th century in winter of the year 1254, by Setona Davies. The establishment of Kèr Ayàmfoù suffered from many setbacks, delays, and obsticles, most notably a group of Kèr Ayàmfoù which required millitary assistance exterminate before the community could finish being built.

Kèr Ayàmfoù was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Kèr Ayàmfoù is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Kèr Ayàmfoù is buildings are arranged arround a network of crampt baked earthen streets which form a diamond shaped grid, where each diamond verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller diamond has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town sits behind an impressive looking clay brick wall. The wall is notable for querried stone blocks being used to renforce the clay bricks in the expected manner and locations. While the wall was built to the exact specifications of modern fortifications, one has to wonder why the money invested into creating such a well fortified wall wasnt spent on a less impressive looking wall crated from sturdier materials. Kèr Ayàmfoù's walls would endure a brief bombardment, but only from light siege weapons. It seems more likly the town's walls were not designed with defence in mind but rather lending the town a certain air with visitors. Kèr Ayàmfoù's boondoggle-of-a-fortified wall are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

A look around Kèr Ayàmfoù gives you a feeling of distrust and paranoia. Also greed. The locals seem to be very much into scholastic pursuits, based on the hushed, murmured conversations you hear at least. Everyone in Kèr Ayàmfoù acts like they have discovered something wondrous, and are worried they will endure some horrible fate so another can take what they’ve discovered for themselves.

Cultural Notes

There’s a relatively new religion in Kèr Ayàmfoù which is rapidly gaining power. It might be a sectarian offshoot of a major faith, the unique product of a new prophet, or an outside faith backed by wealthy and powerful foreign supporters. Depending on the demands made on believers, the new faith may be a matter of concern only to the existing clergy, or it might be a major flashpoint for conflict in the community.

Kèr Ayàmfoù's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known primarily for its use of abstraction and simplicity. Clean lines, right angles, and primary colors characterized this aesthetic and art movement expressed via architecture and paintings. Its design ethos allows only primary colors and non-colors, only squares and rectangles, only straight and horizontal or vertical lines. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements. These seemingly impossible principals for an architectural style coalesces into structures which most experts find hard to put into words. It is not that their geometry is impossible, but rather the style's attempt at producing works only describable visually was most successful..

In Kèr Ayàmfoù sometimes, near one of the seasonal solstices, the sun appears to split into three and it rains from a clear sky for several hours.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Kèr Ayàmfoù was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Kèr Ayàmfoù lost 190 people, 332 livestock, and 96 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 133, when members of Kèr Ayàmfoù's militia enacted an operation to defend a particular expert, and ensure they remain out of enemy hands. The operation was complicated by aggravated civilians, who cause problems for the militia for a host of reasons. The conflict ended with the defense of the port against a siege, which ended in victory for Kèr Ayàmfoù's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Kèr Ayàmfoù's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
